Agriculture and Livestock Sectors: Boosting exports of agriculture and livestock products

A work coordination meeting for reducing the wastage of crops and boosting exports of agriculture products was held at the Agriculture Department in Insein Township of Yangon Region on Saturday.

Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr Aung Gyi attended the meeting and discussed that it is needed to make systematic scrutinizing process in exporting the agriculture products in line with the international norms and standards for crops protection. He urged the officials to carry out the tasks with accountability and responsibility while following the rules and regulations.

In the afternoon, the Deputy Minister and party met with the officials and entrepreneurs from Myanmar Fisheries Federation, Myanmar Livestock Federation and affiliated associations, and discussed for promoting cooperation among the Government, private sector and entrepreneurs, increasing the technology and investments, producing import substitute products, penetrating the market in local and abroad, breeding interantional pedigree species free from animal diseases, implementing the emergency contigency plan in case of disease outbreak among marine creatures and livestock products, and meeting the set standard for export items.

They later visited ShweYamon International Limited and inspected the preparation process for exports and production process of value-added products.
