Agricultural Research: Meeting for development of agriculture works

Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr. Tin Htut met with the region and state heads of Agriculture Department, officials in-charge of  regional research farm and researchers at the Nay Pyi Taw Yezin Department of Agriculture.

During the meeting, the Deputy Minister highlighted the efforts of the ministry in increasing the active participation of farmers and growers in research works, choosing crop variety and crop hybridization. Likewise, the Deputy Minister elaborated on participation of farmers and growers in knowledge exchange sessions and talk shows in order to provide requisite assistance effectively.

The Deputy Minister emphasized on accelerating on sector-wise research works and emergence of experts to meet targeted yields and urged to conduct research on crop variety, crop planting system and climate change continuously to experdite the multicropping system.

He also elaborated on applying agricultural technologies and methods developed from research works in plantations and widely distribution of quality rice varieties produced by Department of Agriculture to the farmers.

The Deputy Minister instructed on increasing research activities in hilly regions, practicing recurrent mass selection on Sin Shwe Kyar-2 plantations, cottton seed production and seed technology, conducting research on plant population and size as well as to produce quality cotton variety.
