Academic Cooperation: Myanmar delegation visits universities in Guizhou

Deputy Minister for Education Dr. Zaw Myint and the Myanmar delegation visited Guizhou Minzu University in Guiyang, China on July 28. They met Party Secretary Mr. Guofu Lyu and discussed cooperation in teacher training and language education, before touring the university campus.

Later, the delegation visited Guizhou University and held talks with Deputy Party Secretary and President Mr. Zou Weiwen. Discussions focused on cooperation in information technology, artificial intelligence, and big data technologies. They also toured the university’s science park and smart learning facilities.

In the afternoon, Dr. Zaw Myint met Mr. Lu Yongzheng, a member of the Guizhou Provincial CPC Standing Committee. Discussion covered sending more Myanmar students to Guizhou universities and providing technical support for vocational schools in industry, agriculture, and livestock.

Afterwards, the Deputy Minister held a separate meeting with China’s Deputy Minister of Education Ren Youqun. They discussed cooperation in higher education, digital learning, teacher training, scholarships, establishing sister universities, and exploring the creation of a China-Myanmar AI and Digital Education Center.
