79th Fire Brigade Day in Yangon: Union Minister for Home Affairs attends the ceremony

The 79th Myanmar Fire Brigade Day celebration, which falls on 5 May, was held at its Headquarters in Yangon this Morning.

The ceremony was inaugurated by the Union Minister of Home Affairs Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung. After that, a minute's silence was observed as a mark of respect for those who died in the recent devastating earthquake. Next, a movie clip about the search and rescue operations and a documentary video the 79th Myanmar Fire Brigade Day was shown. The Union Minister presented the awards to the winners, and the Union Minister and party had a documentary photo taken with those who attended the ceremony.

(Assistant Director), Myanmar fire service department, Htet Aung said "I won the Defense Education Excellence Award at the Officer Training Course held at the Civil Service Academy (Upper Myanmar). During my service, I have been working hard from my position in both search and rescue and firefighting. I am currently working in Kengtung. We have formed search and rescue teams in each region and township for natural disaster. I carried out preventive measures before Cyclone Mokha and participated in water supply and rehabilitation work."

The Union Minister and party viewed the demonstration of firefighting and search and rescue skills and the display of ancient and modern fire trucks and equipment and fire extinguishers.
