






Sports events of the 5thNational Sports Festival continued at respective stadiums and sports grounds in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area.
The festival is in progress with six sports at the ministerial level and 23 sports at the regional and state level as well as four sports for athletes with disabilities, totalling 33, starting from early December. The para-sports events were held from 5 to 8 December.
Joint Secretary, Myanmar Swimming Federation, Myint Lwin said "We come here with total of 157 swimming athletes from 12 regions and states along with 30 coaches and supervisors to participate in 26 swimming events. In 400-meter event, athlete from Yangon region grabs 1st prize. As the athletes are trying their best during the competitions, I believe that the outstanding swimming athletes will turn out for coming SEA Games."
Lin Myat Thu, Athlete said "I’m here to participate in 4 kinds of swimming events as Yangon Region representative. I took about 6-month camp training. And, I also have experience not only in local but also in abroad. I would like to thanks all the concerned officials for organizing this kind of sports festival."
The sports events saw achievements for athletes from various regions and states across the men’s and women’s categories, showcasing exceptional skills and determination.
Assistant Director, DistrictSports & Physical Education Department, Aye KoKo said "I’m really happy for our team, winning gold medal. We conducted 3 months camp training for the competition. Our Department supports necessary equipment for the athletes. Holding this kind of national level sports competitions could help produce next generation athletes for sport sector of the country. "
Judo Coach, Chit Min Min Ko, Yangon Region said "Our athletes prepared a lot to grab 1st prize in the final Judo competition. Through this sports festival, country’s selection young athletes will turn out as the athletes from across the country are participating with full of sportsmanship spirits."
The festival aims at enhancing the nation’s sports standards, achieving success in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games and other international competitions, and turning out outstanding athletes and new-generation athletes who can bring national honour, fostering greater collaboration and unity between regions, states, and ministries in order to further promote sports activities and stipulating public interest in sports to join in sports activities.
