








The 31st ASEAN Transport Ministers Meeting (31st ATM) and related meetings, hosted by Myanmar and led by the Ministry of Transport and Communications, commenced at the Jasmine Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw in Hybrid Mode in the morning on November 20.
The Prime Minister U Nyo Saw attended, delivered an address, and opened the event. Following this, according to the agenda of the 31st ASEAN Transport Ministers Meeting, the Union Minister for Transport and Communications delivered a speech, and the meeting was held with 11 approved agendas.
The ASEAN Transport Ministers approved the work plans for 2026, the final report of the Kuala Lumpur Transport Strategic Plan (2016-2025), the ASEAN Transport Strategic Plan (2026-2030), the ASEAN Regional Strategy on Ship-Generated Waste Management, the ASEAN Electric Vehicle Implementation Blueprint, matters related to public transport and last-mile service delivery via digital systems, and the Strategic Plan for Enhancing Railway Transport Interoperability.
Subsequently, the 24th ASEAN and China Transport Ministers Meeting, the 23rd ASEAN and Japan Transport Ministers Meeting, and the 16th ASEAN and Republic of Korea Transport Ministers Meeting were held as scheduled. The meetings approved the ASEAN-China Transport Cooperation Strategic Plan (2026-2035), the ASEAN-Japan Cooperation Work Programme (2025-2026), and the ASEAN-Republic of Korea Transport Blueprint (2026-2030).
All meetings concluded in the evening. A total of 187 participants, including ministers from ASEAN member states and dialogue partner countries, the ASEAN Secretary-General, and senior officials on relevant subjects, attended the 31st ASEAN Transport Ministers Meeting and related meetings hosted by Myanmar. The Philippines will host these meetings in 2026, it’s reported.
