The Ministry of Health and Sports is undertaking with added momentum preventive measures against 2019 Novel Coronavirus that are occurring and spreading in the People’s Republic of China and some world nations.

The Ministry is conducting screening and surveillance in cooperation with private hospitals at the international entry and exit gates as hospital based measures and community surveillance tasks. On 31st January, a baby girl at the age of 2 years and 2 months who is a Myanmar citizen, arrived at Mandalay International Airport from Kunming, Yunnan Province from the People’s Republic of China.

She got high temperature on 1st February and was taken to Loikaw People’s Hospital for medical treatment. After identifying in details, she was found no symptom on respiratory tracts and it is not appropriate with regulations of 2019 Novel Coronavirus set by the World Health Organization (WHO).

To be more assured, she was regarded as a person under investigation and quarantined at the isolation room. According to the medical tests on Sunday evening, the child is getting better. On 16th January 2020, a man aged 26 from the Republic of Korea arrived in Myanmar via Chiang Mai of Thailand. On 2nd February, he suffered from coughing up blood and went to Nyaung Shwe People’s Hospital. He was then transferred to Sao San Tun Hospital.

The investigation was made in details to him and it was found that he didn’t visit China in the last 14 days and he had no contact with health staffs touching the patients with the symptoms of respiratory tracts or confirmed patients. So, it is not appropriate with the regulation of 2019 Novel Coronavirus issued by WHO.

But, he is under investigation to be more assured and receiving medical treatment in the isolation room. The Ministry of Health and Sports continues to issue press release if the 2019 Novel Coronavirus suspected patients are found, according to the press release by the Ministry at 6:00 pm on 2nd February.
