“2026 Elections” was held across Morocco on Wednesday

The Ministry of Interior announced at a press conference in the early hours of Thursday that the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) had won first place in the “2026 elections” held across Morocco on Wednesday, securing a total of 97 seats.

The National Rally of Independents (RNI)—which had led the outgoing coalition government under Aziz Akhannouch—dropped to second place with 66 seats. The Istiqlal Party came in third with 65 seats. The moderate Islamist Justice and Development Party (PJD) saw a notable resurgence, climbing to fourth place with 54 seats.

Following these preliminary results, King Mohammed VI is expected to appoint a Head of Government from the winning PAM party, initiating coalition-building consultations.
