Industrial Development: Meeting with business owners at Hpa-an Industrial Zone

Union Minister for Industry and MSME Development of Dr. Charlie Than met with business owners at Hpa-an Industrial Zone in Kayin State on Saturday.

In his remarks, the Union Minister highlighted the enactment of the Industrial Zone Law in 2020 and the issuance of its rules in 2024 to establish new domestic industrial zones and systematically develop existing ones to boost domestic industrial production.

He noted that the Kayin State Industrial Zone Establishment and Supervisory Committees has 16 members, while the Industrial Zone Management Committee has 21 members. He also discussed the assessment and reclassification of industrial zones based on their size, type and compliance with the Law and Rules.

The Union Minister called for expanding exports of products from Hpa-an Industrial Zone, establishing business links with enterprises in Thilawa Special Economic Zone and allocating remaining industrial plots in accordance with established procedures.

He also urged the Kayin State Committee to promptly implement relevant decisions and called for coordination among regional committees and industrial zone management committees. He encouraged business owners to raise their challenges for necessary assistance.

The meeting also included discussions on planned initiatives for Hpa-an Industrial Zone.
