Hungary released communist-era secret police files to the public on Wednesday, granting unrestricted online access to names and records for up to 60,000 former informants and state security officers. Spearheaded by Prime Minister Péter Magyar, the archives span the communist era from 1945-49 to 1989, during which secret police employed an estimated 150,000 agents over four decades.

Additional detailed documents known as "B-dossiers", which outline recruitment processes and the value of provided information, are scheduled for release on February 25, 2027.
