Viet Nam unveils first homegrown security chip

On November 3, Viet Nam unveiled its first homegrown security chip, VGC v1.0, alongside the country's first domestically designed secure semiconductor platform. Jointly created by the Government Cipher Committee and the telecom group Viettel, the chip can perform encryption and decryption 15 times faster than software-only solutions, integrating Viet Nam's national block cipher algorithm directly into the silicon hardware.

The underlying semiconductor platform is also expected to support the development of next-generation security chips for smart devices, helping the nation reduce its reliance on foreign technology.
