China’s FM meets with Lao deputy prime minister on relations

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Lao Deputy Prime Minister Thongsavanh Phomvihane in Beijing on Tuesday, to discuss bilateral ties and cooperation in areas including artificial intelligence.

During the meeting, Wang called for making full use of the Joint Committee for China-Laos Economic Corridor Cooperation, accelerating the China-Laos Railway, and expanding trade and mineral resources cooperation. Both officials pledged closer coordination to combat transnational crime, safeguard ASEAN unity and autonomy, and maintain regional peace.

This year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, and the Year of China-Laos Friendship.
