A collision between two high-speed trains south of Madrid killed 31 and injured 80 people on Wednesday, Spanish regional authorities said. Rail traffic on the high-speed line linking Madrid, Ciudad Real, and Andalusia has been suspended indefinitely after the accident.

The collision caused multiple carriages to derail, with some tumbling down a steep roadside embankment. Emergency services, fire crews, and medical helicopters were dispatched to the scene, and Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez expressed shock while coordinating emergency responses.
