President Donald Trumpon Tuesday announced a sweeping rollback of federal oil and gas methane emissions regulations, claiming the move will save $45 billion for consumers and energy producers.

Donald Trump, US President said "Tonight I'm officially terminating Biden's expensive and unnecessary methane regulations to save consumers and energy producers. $45 billion in costs, unlocked vast quantities of Texas natural gas, and produced 210 million barrels of oil."

The new changes include proposing to kill off the "Super Emitter Program," a provision that allows Environmental Protection Agency-approved observers to report major leaks with a rate of over 100 kilogramsper hour.
