Historic Festival: Kyaukse Elephant Dance Competition

Kyaukse Elephant Dance Competition was held at the foot of Shwe Thar Hlaung mountain in Kyaukse, Mandalay Region, on Sunday with the attendance of Chief Minister U Myo Aung and officials.  

At the event, Region Chief Minister highlighted to preserve the festival of elephant donation which has over 900 years long history since King Anawrahta’s era.

The Region Chief Minister and party later enjoyed the elephant dances and performances, and presented cash of honors. A total of 14 elephants contestants including three elephant calf, participated in the 2026 Kyaukse Elephant Dance Competition and prizes will be awarded to the winners at the respective categories.
