British Airways has officially resumed direct flight operations between the United Kingdom and Sri Lanka for the first time since 2015, marking a significant milestone in regional travel and tourism connectivity. The carrier’s Boeing 777 aircraft touched down at Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake on Saturday, officially re-establishing the long-awaited direct aerial link between the two nations.

Under the new flight schedule, British Airways will operate three weekly direct services linking London Gatwick and Katunayake throughout the winter season. Airline officials noted that the route aims to provide European and UK travelers with direct, seamless access to one of South Asia’s premier travel destinations.
