Iraq officially assumed the rotating presidency of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers

The Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation was held in Baghdad on Saturday, under the theme "Dialogue and Solidarity: Two Essential Pillars for Promoting Peace and Sustainable Development.

During the opening session, Iraq officially assumed the rotating presidency of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers from Türkiye.

In his inaugural address, Prime Minister al-Zaidi proposed an Iraqi initiative to link energy grids, transportation corridors, railway networks, and digital financial integration systems across OIC member states. Discussions focused heavily on regional security, protecting international trade routes, ending hostilities in Gaza, and fostering economic cooperation among member nations.
