Parliamentary Affairs: Meeting with hluttaw representatives in Bago

Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker Vice Chairman of Myanmar Parliamentary Union (MPU) U Khin Yi met with the Bago Region Chief Minister, Region Hluttaw Speaker and Deputy Speaker and Hluttaw Representatives at the regional hluttaw office on Saturday.

Speaker U Khin Yi stressed the need to strive for emergence of people-centered hluttaw with high capability, adding that efforts have been made by laying down 5-year Pyithu Hluttaw Strategic Plan for effective legislation, monitoring, having accountability, representing the people, cooperation with international parliaments, capacity building of hluttaw representatives, conducting research for skill improvement and development of digital hluttaw system.

He urged all to implement the regional relevant tasks based on these six goals. He also suggested to attract public interest in hluttaw through "Know Parliament, See Parliament, Open Parliament" program. He called for collaboration among the hluttaw representatives and staff for development of hluttaw role, while abiding by the laws, bylaws and directives.

Regional Hluttaw Speaker U Aung Cho Oo explained the work undertakings of the regional hluttaw. The meeting concluded after the remarks by Speaker U Khin Ye.
