Panama President Jose Raul Mulino visited the town of Tonosi, one of the hardest hit areas by the 7.7 magnitude earthquake that struck the country on October 9.

During the inspections, the president focused on several critical tasks, he personally surveyed sites with heavy structural damage such as collapsed buildings, cracked roadways, and affected public infrastructureto gauge the true scale of the disaster.

He directed emergency efforts to focus heavily on hospitals and health centers (such as checking on evacuated medical facilities like the Aquilino Tejeira Hospital) to ensure medical services remained functional for the injured. Following his formal declaration of a "major disaster" and a state of emergency, his presence on-site helped fast-track resource allocation and streamline the deployment of search-and-rescue units.
