Pyidaungsu Hluttaw Session: Pyidaungsu Hluttaw held 1st day of 3rd regular session

The first day of the third regular session of the Third Pyidaungsu Hluttaw was held at 10 a.m. today, 29 September, at the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw Hall in Nay Pyi Taw, with 542 of the 560 eligible Hluttaw representatives in attendance.

First, the Speaker of the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw delivered opening remarks. Union Minister at the Office of the President U Khin Maung Yi then explained to the Hluttaw matters concerning the renaming and re-designation of the Ministry of Hotels, Tourism and Culture as the Ministry of Culture, Hotels and Tourism, and the issuance of Order No. 5/2026 having the force of law, which had been sent by the President. He announced that Hluttaw representatives wishing to discuss the matters could submit their names.

Next, Union Minister U Khin Maung Yi explained matters concerning the replacement and appointment of a Union Minister and the issuance of Order No. 6/2026 having the force of law, as sent by the President. He also submitted the names of Dr. Myo Win Aung and U Saw Myo Myo, proposed by the President for appointment as judges of the Supreme Court of the Union, to the Hluttaw.

Deputy Minister for Planning and Finance U Han Win Aung explained the matter concerning the proposed extension of exemptions from Special Goods Tax and Commercial Tax on HSD (500 ppm) diesel fuel and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), sent by the President and announced that Hluttaw representatives wishing to object to the matters could submit their names.

The Hluttaw then recorded the appointment of Colonel Soe Yan Naung as Kachin State Minister for Security and Border Affairs, sent by the President.

Next, overseas visits undertaken by the Deputy Speaker of the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw and Hluttaw representatives were reported to the Hluttaw and recorded.

The proposed reassignment of Brigadier General Zaw Zaw Tun as a member of the Joint Bill Committee of the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw was then submitted, and the approval of the Hluttaw was obtained.

Subsequently, the proposed reassignment of Brigadier General Khin Maung Soe as a member of the Joint Public Accounts Committee of the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw and Major Zin Ko Win as a member of the Joint Committee on ASEAN Parliamentary Affairs was submitted, and the approval of the Hluttaw was obtained.

The first day of the third regular session of the Third Pyidaungsu Hluttaw was adjourned at 10:52 a.m. The second day of the session will continue on 6 October, it is reported.
