Pedestrians wade through flooded Bangkok roads after days of rain

Widespread heavy rains triggered severe flooding across Thailand's capital, prompting local authorities to declare all 50 districts of Bangkok disaster zones. After days of continuous, torrential downpours exceeding 30 cm in several regions, knee-deep to waist-deep floodwaters have inundated roads, residential homes, and markets.

Pedestrians have been wading through submerged streets, using makeshift floats and boats to move supplies. Thousands of residents have been forced into temporary shelters, including local schools and athletic facilities.

Over 400 schools across Bangkok have suspended classes, and hundreds of commuters faced significant travel delays, stranded vehicles, and disrupted transit. The Thai Cabinet declared September 28 and 29 special public holidays for government and municipal workers in Bangkok and adjacent to allow families to recover and manage local property damage.
