Malaysia’s former first lady dies at 100

The wife of former Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali, has passed away at the age of 100. She died at the National Heart Institute (IJN), Malaysia. In a post on X, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim expressed his deepest condolences on behalf of the MADANI Government and Malaysians.

He said the nation will remember her as a maternal figure and cherish her contributions. Anwar said he has directed the Chief Secretary to the Government and the Chief of Defence Forces to assist with the arrangements and accord her National Bereavement Rites for a National Figure. He also extended his condolences to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and the entire family.
