Houthi attacks target Saudi capital as Türkiye vows support

Missile and drone strike by Yemen's Houthis targeting Riyadh and other Saudi locations have escalated regional tensions, drawing firm support for Saudi Arabia from Türkiye. The group attack also prompted Italy and the European Union to bolster naval escorts in the Red Sea.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the Houthi attacks, reaffirming its firm support for Saudi Arabia's sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity. Both Italian and EU defense officials raised the alert level for its participating vessels to safeguard merchant ships transiting the vital Bab al-Mandab chokepoint.
