Efforts for Peace: Meeting between NSPNC and RCSS

A meeting between the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee (NSPNC) and the Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS) was held on September 15 at the meeting hall of the Horizon Lake View Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw.

At the meeting, NSPNC Chairman Lieutenant General Yar Pyae stated that the country's primary need is the economy, and that peace is key to developing the economy. He added that only by building trust can the peace process continuously maintain contact and move forward, so he would like to see communication conducted through various means.

He further expressed that mutual engagement from both sides will increase mutual trust. Then, Secretary (1) of the Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS) Sao Sai Ngern stated that trust is extremely important when carrying out the peace process. He highlighted the need to implement arrangements for the return of displaced people to their places of origin and their rehabilitation during the peace process.

He mentioned that assistance is being provided for education, healthcare, transportation, and local development work, and that they will cooperate in combating illicit drugs and online scams, expressing confidence that good results would be achieved from the day's discussion.

Afterward, attendees mutually discussed future peace process operations, matters regarding the RCSS organization, solving political issues through political means, the return and rehabilitation of displaced citizens affected by conflict, local development and socio-economic support including transportation, education, and healthcare for local residents, local stability and tranquility, and cooperation with the government to combat illicit drugs and online scams.

Subsequently, NSPNC Secretary Lieutenant General Min Naing presented and discussed the Government's arrangements regarding the opening of vocational training schools in regions and states. Following this, both sides recorded and approved the points of discussion.
