The Ministry of Labour is making arrangements to assist workers who were laid off from the Wool Factory operated by Wan He Garment Factory Co., Ltd. in Hmawby Township, Yangon Region.

The factory employs more than 4,400 workers. Due to a decline in orders, 194 workers were laid off. The Ministry provided opportunities for the laid-off workers to find employment at factories in nearby areas. On Sunday, Union Minister U Khin Maung Soe visited the factory and met with the workers, assuring them of efforts to ensure the continued operation of the factory.

He also said that more than 3,000 workers would be hired by 14 garment factories in Hmawby Township. He pledged that the Ministry will provide support in cases of layoffs by factories, in accordance with the Labour Law. He also stressed the need for transparency, mutual trust and understanding between employers and employees to boost production.
