Iran and Oman have agreed on the details of new entry and exit shipping routes for the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian officials said on Saturday. Officials from Iran and Oman plan to brief other Gulf littoral states on these routes during a regional ministerial meeting in Muscat on September 14.

But Tehran maintains that the strait will remain closed until specific conditions and international commitments are met. The two nations have also discussed working together on a joint demining project in the area.
