Disaster Mitigation : Riverbank erosion control works in Hinthada

Ayeyawady Region Chief Minister U Aye Kyaw inspected riverbank protection works in Ohn Shit Kone Village of Hinthada Township Friday. The inspection focused on measures to prevent further erosion of the Ngawun River, where riverbank collapse has occurred due to strong currents. Floating units have been installed as part of the riverbank protection efforts.

The Chief Minister instructed officials to carry out protection works promptly, regularly monitor areas at risk of erosion, and prioritize emergency measures where necessary to protect local residents, homes and public infrastructure. During a meeting with local residents, the Chief Minister pledged to continue riverbank protection and monitoring efforts to reduce the risk of damage to homes, roads, bridges, schools and other public buildings.
