Renovation Efforts: Reconstruction works underway in Chin State

Due to terriorist acts, partially damaged departmental offices in Tedim, Tonzang and Falam are being renovated by local private companies with the support of National Disaster Management Fund.

On September 11th, Deputy Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Thant Zaw Lwin inspected and supervised the renovation and reconstruction works in these areas.  As part of these efforts, the Deputy Minister also met with departmental staff, townselders and religious leaders at the Tedim Township General Administration Department.

The Deputy Minister stressed the needs to prevent from similar terriorist acts in the area, urging to handle misunderstandings and conflicting desires through political means. Inviting all EAOs to join peace talks, the Deputy Minister called for peace negotiation aligned with the current era and system, instead of making demands for the impossible.

The Deputy Minister stated the government efforts on implementing of free education system in areas with low educational attainment for primary to Grade-9 students as well as establishing 92 Industrial, Agricultural and Livestock Breeding High Schools, upgrading of institutes to college/university level and expanding of Polytechnic Science and Universities. He called for collaborative efforts of all in rehabilitation and reconstruction works for regional development.

After hearing the reports by the attendees, the Deputy Minister coordinated the needs. On their way to Falam Township, the Deputy Minister and party inspected ThaingNgin-Tedim Junction and cordially greeted the travellers. In Falam Township, the Deputy Minister and party inspected the completion of rehabilitation works including renovation of Auto Exchange Office and repairing of MPT communication lines and coordinated the needs on the reports by the officials. The Deputy Minister and party proceeded to Nursing Training School and Falam People’s Hospital, inspected the renovation of school hostels and staff housings and coordinated the needs.
