Arms for Peace: 60 members of armed groups return to legal fold

As Counter-Terrorism Operations continue to restore stability, Tatmadaw has regained control of terrorist occupied areas and reopened key communication routes.

Local residents have encouraged Tatmadaw’s efforts, while some members of armed groups, recognizing the peace process, have returned to the legal fold via nearby battalions and security forces. On 10th September, a total of 60 members of PDF, DPLA, KNDF and PNLO terrorist groups have returned to the legal fold along with 35 arms and various ammunitions.

A handover ceremony was held at Thanlwin Hall of Eastern Command with the attendance of Shan State Chief Minister U Sai Htein Soe. During the ceremony, the Chief Minister and officials received the arms and ammunitions handed over by the returnees and presented a total of 181.8 million kyats cash rewards for the returnees and surrendered arms and ammunitions.

Those wishing to return to legal framework are encouraged to promptly contact the nearest District or Township Administration Office, battalion, or police station. They will be welcomed and provided with the necessary assistance, while appropriate rewards will be offered for voluntarily surrendered weapons and ammunition.
