Environmental Conservation: Nant Taung reserved forest established in Shan State

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation has established the Nant Taung Forest Reserved in Linkhe District, Shan State.

Covering 25,200 acres, the forest reserved was officially established on September 1, 2026. The move aims to protect valuable native trees, wildlife habitats, water sources and biodiversity, while improving forest coverage and supporting the livelihoods of local communities. The forest is home to species of various hard woods including teak, as well as wildlife such as wild cats, barking deers, mountain goats, rabbits, monkeys and other animals.
