Voting closed on Saturday in Iceland's high-stakes referendum on whether to resume accession negotiations with the European Union. Initial partial results indicate a razor-thin, knife-edge race, with the "Yes" camp leading narrowly at 51.2% and the "No" camp at 48.8% after more than 87,000 votes were scrutinized.

The vote was brought forward due to turbulent international affairs, including Arctic security concerns, and regional uncertainty tied to U.S. President Donald Trump's threats regarding nearby Greenland.
