Qatar, Iran discuss joint project to clear mines in Strait of Hormuz

Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani arrived in Tehran for talks with Iranian officials. Freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz was among the key issues discussed during the meetings.

Qatar’s Foreign Ministry said the two sides discussed an agreement to implement a “joint project” to clear mines from the Strait of Hormuz. The ministry added that the talks also addressed efforts to reduce regional tensions and create conditions conducive to dialogue.
