UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham met with apprentices during his visit to Tata Steel in Wales. The Prime Minister signaled strong support for the reindustrialization of Wales, reaffirming commitment to major investments including a £14 billion Wales railway infrastructure upgrade.

Speaking during the visit, Burnham suggested exploring deeper "mayoral-style" regional devolution within Wales and Scotland to mirror models in England. He also noted that Welsh requests regarding control of the Crown Estate would receive a "fair hearing" at the upcoming National Economic Council meeting.
