Iran says understanding reached on temporary commercial shipping route in Hormuz

Iran and Oman issued a joint statement on Saturday proposing the establishment of a mutually agreed temporary maritime safe passage in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the statement, Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi held constructive talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi during his visit to Tehran, focusing on restoring safe navigation in the strategic waterway. The two countries also agreed to continue technical-level negotiations aimed at reaching agreements on a permanent shipping lane, future management arrangements for the Strait of Hormuz, information sharing, traffic control, and related navigation and safety services.
