Kazakh president Kassym-Jomart Tokayev casted his ballot at a polling station on Sunday during the election for its new unicameral parliament.

During a briefing for the media at the polling station, Tokayev said the March reform of the parliament is the beginning of an "enormous" amount of work ahead of the country. Around 12.6 million of the country's 20-million population are eligible to vote. The country adopted a new constitution in March which abolished the upper house Senate in favour of a one-body parliament.
