Trump says he expects to meet top DPRK leader later this year

U.S. President Donald Trump said Wednesday he expects to meet again with Kim Jong Un, the top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), later this year. The White House has not confirmed plans for a meeting between the two leaders.

The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported Tuesday that Trump had privately discussed arranging an in-person meeting with Kim during his upcoming trip to Asia, which could take place in November. While Trump views another one-on-one meeting as an opportunity to reopen dialogue with the DPRK, analysts and some U.S. officials do not expect significant progress, according to the WSJ report.
