Chinese FM meets Iranian counterpart, urges resumption of negotiations

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Saturday met with Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi, urging the resumption of Middle East negotiations and the implementation of prior consensus. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation meeting in Kyrgyzstan.

Wang reiterated that Beijing's support for Iran's sovereignty and security, alongside mediation efforts by Pakistan and others. Araghchi stated that Tehran's willingness to negotiate remains unchanged and that they do not want the conflict to continue.
