China’s Xi meets Kazakh President in Shanghai

Chinese President Xi Jinping received his Kazakh counterpart Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in Shanghai on Thursday as Tokayev visited China to attend the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference.

During the meeting, Xi called for optimized trade structures and expanded cooperation in energy and mineral resources. The two nations agreed to advance international transport by increasing scheduled passenger flights between China and Kazakhstan from 124 to 152 per week.
