Sri Lanka is undergoing a major industry shift to maximize value addition, moving from bulk exports to experiential retail through high-end "Ceylon Tea Villages" and flagship estates.
The goal is to reach 2.5 billion US dollar in export revenue by 2030. With the aid of the government, a massive initiative was launched to establish 500 cluster tea villages. These hubs will integrate farming with local tourism, allowing visitors to participate in plucking, blending, and processing. Besides, local homegrown networks like Island Tea Co. are rapidly spreading this concept, offering pure Ceylon tea alongside coffee in international markets.
