Chinese authorities activate contingency plans as typhoon Bavi approaches

Chinese maritime and transport authorities on Wednesday activated emergency response plans as Super Typhoon Bavi tracks toward the mainland coast. The Ministry of Transport initiated a Level-Four typhoon defense response, while the China Maritime officials ordered vessels to seek shelter, suspended certain maritime routes, and prepared port work stoppages.

The storm classified as a Category 5 typhoon has prompted widespread precautionary measures across several east coast hubs including Zhejiang and Fujian provinces.
