China’s Xi vows to strengthen nation's military, stamp out corruption

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday renewed his vows to strengthen the military and eliminate corruption within the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and the People's Liberation Army. The CCP also has to "resolutely wage the critical, protracted, and comprehensive battle against corruption", he added.

He underscored that upholding the party's absolute leadership over the armed forces is non-negotiable. Xi's anti-graft campaign has gutted the upper echelons of the military, bringing down two defense ministers over the past three years.
