South Korea plans large-scale investments in semiconductors and AI

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung has indicated his intention to make large-scale investments in the fields of semiconductors and artificial intelligence in collaboration with major domestic firms. Lee attended a meeting at the presidential office on Monday along with senior executives from semiconductor-related companies.

They included South Korea-based chipmakers Samsung Electronics and SK hynix. Lee emphasized that he will take an active role in advancing the necessary legislation and institutional frameworks for the initiative. He said it will determine the course of South Korea over the next 20 to 30 years.
