Health Care Services: Treatment provided to over 1,500 patients in Taunggyi

A Specialist Medical Team provided medical treatments to the local residents at Sao San Tun People’s Hospital in Taunggyi on 27th and 28th June. 13 Professor/Specialist from Mandalay People’s Hospital, 500-bedded Children Hospital (Mandalay) and Children Hospital (Mandalay) conducted the treatments together with Specialists from Sao San Tun People’s Hospital.

The team treated over 1,500 locals and provided Echo, CT Scan, MRI, Ultrasound, and ECG services as well as two surgeries. Moreover, 19 patients requiring further diagnostic testing and continued treatment were transferred to respective hospitals. On the 27th,  Ministers for Security and Border Affairs and the Social Affairs from Shan State Government, and officials visited the Sao San Tun Hospital to encourage the patients and observe the medical treatment, providing local products to the the team.

The Ministry of Health is deploying professors and specialists from Yangon, Mandalay, and Nay Pyi Taw to region and state hospitals. Under this outreach program, specialists from Region/State are also visiting district and township hospitals to provide specialized care.

The initiative aims to make healthcare more accessible, reduce out-of-pocket expenses for patients, and ensure early disease detection and timely treatment. Plans are underway to expand these special medical missions to additional townships across the country.
