India hands over patrol vessel to Syechelles

India handed over SCGS Lespwar to Seychelles in presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It is a patrol vessel which will be operated by the Seychelles Coast Guard. Built by Goa Shipyard Ltd. in India, the vessel is the part of a series of fast patrol boats and interceptor vessels given by the Indian government to the island nation to enhance maritime security in the Indian Ocean.  The 52 m long vessel is capable of speeds in excess of 30 Knots with the operational range of 1500 Nautical miles.

Prime Minister Modi also handed over ambulances and some other vehicles made in India.  Speaking on the occasion, Seychelles Foreign Minister expressed his sincere gratitude to India on behalf of his nation. As a key maritime neighbour in the Indian Ocean Region, Seychelles occupies a special place in India’s Vision MAHASAGAR.
