Regional Cooperation : Myanmar joins 14th MSC Mekong meeting in Laos

A Myanmar delegation led by Deputy Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation Dr. Thaung Naing Oo attended the 14th Meeting of the Sub-Regional Ministerial Steering Committee on Transboundary Haze Pollution in the Mekong Sub-Region (MSC Mekong) held in Vientiane, Laos on June 25.

At the meeting, Myanmar highlighted its efforts to monitor fire hotspots, to share haze information with regional authorities, and to work with Thailand and Laos under the CLEAR Sky Strategy (2024–2030) to reduce transboundary haze pollution. Delegates also discussed regional fire hotspot conditions, weather forecasts, haze control measures, ASEAN cooperation, and strengthening collaboration to reduce cross-border air pollution across the Mekong subregion.
