






A Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister for Education Dr. Chaw Chaw Sein departed Yangon by air for Jakarta, Indonesia, on June 22 to attend the Global Sustainable Development Congress 2026 (GSDC 2026), and arrived there in the evening.
The 2026 Global Sustainable Development Congress is being held at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) in Jakarta, Indonesia. During the congress, separate thematic discussion sessions are being conducted, and universities and educational organizations from around the world are exhibiting booths throughout the event.
At the congress, Union Minister participated in discussions under the theme “Building Future Development by Nurturing Skilled Educated Individuals.” In her discussion, she stated that education is a key pillar for national development and that the future economic development of countries largely depends on skill-based knowledge and expertise.
She added that as technology continues to evolve, employment opportunities will increasingly rely on skills-based competencies. She explained that Myanmar is also striving to promote quality, skill-based education and, as an agriculture-based country, has introduced industrial, agricultural, and livestock-related subjects beginning at the middle school level.
These efforts are aimed at developing skilled human resources for the country’s important agriculture and livestock sectors. This year’s Global Sustainable Development Congress 2026 is being held over four days, from June 22 to June 25. The Union Minister was accompanied at the congress by the Deputy Director General and a Director from the Department of Higher Education.
