The World Economic Forum’s 17th Annual Meeting of the New Champions, also known as the Summer Davos forum, opened in Dalian, northeast China on Tuesday. The three-day event has brought together more than 1,700 representatives from over 90 countries and regions to explore new paths to global economic recovery and high-quality development.

Mirek Dusek, Managing Director, World Economic Forum said  "It (the theme) really puts a finger on what is, again, a big imperative for a lot of leaders around the world, really looking at what are the archetypes that China is using to really deploy not only AI but other, like energy, technologies at scale. It's something that is of interest to a lot of the other leaders around the world as they grapple with the same question. So, there is an element around this meeting, but then there is a larger element of an exchange between China and the rest of the world on precisely these issues."

More than 100 forums and activities will be held in the three days, with issues covering science and technology, economy, energy and culture.
