Thai Interior Ministry to boost Phuket investment

Under the leadership of Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, the Thailand government is undertaking a sweeping "Phuket Model" to overhaul the island's investment and tourism sectors. The strategy combines massive infrastructure investments with aggressive crackdowns on state land encroachment and local mafia-style influence.

The government is also advancing the construction of a new international airport for Phuket to relieve capacity limits at the primary airport, alongside a new Boat Taxi service set to connect Patong to the airport in roughly 30 minutes.
