China's largest semi-submersible fish farming platform, named "Xinhuan No. 1," has officially gone into operation in Sanya, Hainan Province. With an aquaculture water volume of 64,000 cubic meters, it can produce 4,000 tons of fish annually and features an automated rotational stocking and harvesting system.

Similar to an offshore oil rig, it operates a ballast system that allows it to freely surface and submerge. This enables the platform to adapt to varying ocean depths and protect the marine life inside from harsh surface weather like typhoons.
