



A ceremony for the handover of equipment and machinery donated by the Republic of India to the Myanmar Engineering Council for use in inspecting the structural integrity of earthquake-affected buildings was held on June 10, at the Function Hall of the Myanmar Engineering Council in Hlaing Township, Yangon.
First, the Chairman of the Myanmar Engineering Council, U Khin Maung Htay, delivered a welcome address. Then, the Indian Ambassador to Myanmar, Mr. Abhay Thakur, gave remarks and formally handed over the equipment and related documents to the Chairman of the Myanmar Engineering Council.
Afterward, the Chairman of the Myanmar Engineering Federation and the Myanmar Earthquake Committee, U Nyunt Maung San, delivered concluding remarks, and attendees viewed the display of the equipment and machinery used for assessing the structural integrity of earthquake-affected buildings.
The first donation from the Republic of India, made in March 2026, included 11 types of machinery and equipment for pre- and post-disaster building assessments, valued at more than 20 million Indian rupees. The second donation handed over today included seismological instruments, concrete internal inspection devices, thermal imaging cameras, building structural monitoring sensors, drones, and other machinery and equipment, with a total value exceeding 17.75 million Indian rupees, its’ learnt.
